The Farmers Market
It is no news that Jos Plateau state, Nigeria has a rich land that abounds in food supply. However, this market stands out among others in the city.
It is also called the “Tourist market” as it is the famous stop for tourists, visiting the state.
The market's distinctive allure comes from the impressive size, top-notch quality, and impeccable presentation of its fruits and vegetables, drawing attention and making it a must-visit destination.
I visited the market to learn about the sellers' operating systems, their sourcing methods for goods, and the unique methods that set them apart.
Meet Kabiru Abdul Kadir, who has been in business for two years. He explains that he primarily sources his supplies from a specific farm, supplemented by some purchases from the open market. He emphasizes the importance of washing the goods thoroughly to enhance their presentation.
Reflecting on his journey, he shares, "I'm not the same as I was." He credits his business with transforming his life, enabling him to provide for his mother and younger siblings.
One common hurdle for sellers is the spoilage of goods, frequently resulting in financial setbacks.
